In 1898 the small town of Tracyville,  which lies on the eastern boundary of Honesdale, was giving birth to a new fire company. This company became known as The Alert Fire Company.  One of four Fire Companies that comprises the Honesdale Fire Department.  Alert #2 is located on the East side of the Borough of Honesdale and is 100% volunteer.
